The group's 2010 tea and fashion show was so popular they decided to do one again

OLDS — The IODE Baron Tweedsmuir chapter is holding a tea and fashion show to celebrate the organization’s 90 years in the community.

It will be held April 12 in the Evergreen Centre from 12:30 p.m. until about 4 p.m.

Joyce Quaife, a member of the IODE Baron Tweedsmuir, says it’ll mark the second time the group has held a tea and fashion show.

“We had one in 2010 and it was really a good fashion show and tea. That would have been our 75th anniversary,” Quaife said during an interview with the Albertan.

“People kept saying, ‘oh, why don’t you do a fashion show again? It was so much fun,’ so that’s what we decided we would do.

“Some of the ladies that are IODE members are going to be fashion models. There’s nobody professional, absolutely not,” she added with a laugh.

Quaife said more than 100 people had bought tickets as of last week, “so it’s going to be a pretty good-sized event, I think.

“We’ve got a little girl who we gave an award to last year. She’s going to come and play a couple of special piano pieces for us. And another fellow from the Baptist Church and his kids are going to play for us too.

“So, yeah, I think it’ll be a fun afternoon.”
