Water restriction in Olds planned for June 9-13

The purpose of the restriction is to enable crews to make water meter repairs to the Olds North Reservoir

OLDS – A level 2 water restriction will be in effect in Olds from June 9-13 – weather permitting – as crews make water meter repairs to the town’s north reservoir.

“A Level 2 restriction bans all outdoor residential watering, pool filling, vehicle washing, and some non-residential uses," said chief administrative officer Brent Williams.

“It’s stricter than Level 1, which allows limited use on alternating days, but not as severe as Level 3, which extends bans to commercial uses like car washes and splash parks."

Town officials say the restriction is not expected to affect the community’s water supply.

“Water will remain available, but system pressure may be lower than usual,” states a town news release.

Tap water will remain safe to drink, the release says; however, water-reliant appliances like dishwashers, washing machines, or irrigation systems may experience lower pressure.

As a result, town officials suggest residents might want to consider postponing use of those appliances if that’s possible.

If you do experience water issues of any kind, officials recommend that you phone their on-call number: 403-994-1376.

“We appreciate your cooperation as this important repair is completed,” the news release says.
