OLDS — Olds Grizzlys forward Aiden Knutson has been named to the 2024-25 Inter Pipeline Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) All-Academic Team.
One player from each team in the league is given this honour. One finalist – either a current or former AJHL player -- will be named later and will receive a $1,500 scholarship, awarded by Inter Pipeline, a longtime supporter of the league.
“The all-academic team recognizes players regarded as having commendable dedication to their studies at either the high school or post-secondary level, along with a grade score reflective of their academic success,” an AJHL news release issued March 27 says.
“The scholarship is awarded to the player deemed most deserving among the applicants based on their proven qualities in the areas of leadership, sportsmanship, dedication and citizenship. “
Grizzlys head coach Brad Tobin praised Knutson’s attitude.
“(He’s) very mature for his age and has been focused on his schooling since arriving in md-December,” Tobin wrote in a text. “We wish him well moving forward on his future endeavours”
