OLDS — Seventy skaters took part in the Olds Figure Skating Club’s (OFSC) annual carnival, up from 59 last year.

The carnival, held March 23 at the Sportsplex, attracted a full house of spectators. It serves as a year-end chance for club members to show off their talent and what they’ve learned.

This year’s carnival theme was Under The Sea. Skaters of all ages and skill levels, entertained the audience with a mix of creative performances, synchronized routines, and solo showcases.

“We are so proud of our skaters and all the progress they have made this season,” OFSC secretary Lindsay Smit wrote in an email.

“Carnival is a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work and share their passion for skating with family, friends, and the community.”

Smit said carnival organizers are grateful for the “tireless efforts of our coaches, board members, volunteers, and parents, who worked behind the scenes to ensure a seamless and memorable event.”

She said the club is also very thankful for the generous sponsors who supported the club during the season.

The OFSC is already looking forward to next year.

Smit noted that registration for summer camps and fall programs opens in June.
