SUNDRE – Mounties are asking the public for help identifying those responsible for damaging election signs in and around Sundre.
The Sundre RCMP department reported having received multiple complaints about mischief to NDP candidate federal election signs between Wednesday, April 9 and Friday, April 11.
“The mischief includes the spray painting of discriminatory slurs,” police said in a statement issued the afternoon of April 11.
“Damaging or stealing a candidate election sign is a criminal offence. Additionally, hate- or biased-motivated crimes could result in higher penalties during sentencing.”
