Young Olds musicians shine in spring concert

Held June 4, the concert featured several bands, with Chelsea Pederson conducting.

OLDS – The École Olds High School (ÉOHS) Band spring concert at the TransCanada Theatre saw Grade 9-12 students perform more than a dozen songs for a large, appreciative audience.

Held June 4, the concert featured several bands, with Chelsea Pederson conducting.

The Grade 9-10 band performed three numbers, including “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes.

The Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 band performed “Pirates Of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” as arranged by Michael Brown.

The Grade 11-12 band performed four numbers, including “Symphonia” by Robert Buckley.

The Jazz Band performed four numbers, including “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire, as arranged by Mark Taylor.

The Drumline performed four numbers, including “The Thang” by Cassidy Byars.

The Choir performed three numbers, including “Home” by Phillip Phillips as arranged by Alan Billingsley.

Organizers thank ÉOHS band parents for their support, as well as Don Jorgensen for sound and tech support, Lindsay Clendinning for her help supporting the choir, Alessandra Hawman for the slide presentation, and ÉOHS staff for their support arranging rehearsals.
