CobraCats claw finals win out of Falcons in Tier 1 rugby

Bow Valley carried a 26-5 advantage early in the second half with Foothills battling back for a furious finish.

In the girls South Central Zone Tier 1 rugby final, the Foothills Falcons just missed out on winning their second zone banner in rugby of the season.

Foothills, the rugby sevens zone champions, were edged out 31-24 by the Bow Valley CobraCats on Monday, June 2.

Two scores in quick succession from Falcons back Savanah Sommerfeldt, who had three majors and three converts on the day, were followed by another run into the try zone from Foothills forward Cade Holditch to cut the deficit to two.

Bow Valley responded with a late score to make it a seven-point lead and held on for the victory.
