INNISFAIL – A covert RCMP operation involving a pickup truck allegedly stolen by a known high-risk prolific offender, has resulted in the arrest of a Penhold man.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a media release issued Thursday that on July 3, Innisfail RCMP received a report of a stolen Ford F-350 truck.

Savinkoff said RCMP members believed the truck had been stolen by a known prolific offender.

“The suspect was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching conditions of his parole relating to similar circumstances,” said Savinkoff. “Based on the high-risk nature of this individual, RCMP in Innisfail partnered with covert RCMP resources from Red Deer and Central Alberta District in Leduc.”

He said during the evening of July 3, RCMP covert resources were able to locate the stolen truck and followed it to the Dickson Dam area, located west of Innisfail.

Savinkoff  said the suspect eventually parked and exited the stolen truck and then walked towards a covert RCMP member and struck up a conversation looking to borrow the officer’s cellphone.

He said the suspect was immediately arrested.

Jordan Glasgow, 25, a resident of Penhold, has been charged with possession of a stolen truck over $5,000, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited and failure to comply with probation.

Savinkoff said Glasgow was also arrested on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.

He said a judicial interim release hearing was held and Glasgow was remanded into custody.

Savinkoff  said Glasgow will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 18.
