Pickleball tournament a big hit in Carstairs

20 players competed in event to raise funds for a new outdoor court

CARSTAIRS - Last weekend’s Carstairs pickleball tournament was a resounding success, say officials.

Twenty competitors took part in the tourney, which was held to raise funds for a new outdoor pickleball court in town.

The games were played in the Hugh Sutherland School gymnasium, with 12 round robin games, and gold, silver and bronze medals awarded.

Tournament officials said more than $1,500 was raised during the tourney.

Pickleball is a racket sport played by two singles or two teams of two.
